when we first spotted mr ray there must have been at least 50 people in the water with him. as he swam out to sea this number dwindled and by the time he passed by our boat there were just a hardcore handful left. i couldn't work out whether the manta was being playful and friendly, or felt harassed and scared. i'd like to think the former, as it went closer to the jetty again after this - i'm sure if he'd had enough he could have easily swam away.
